Our Vision…
To end homelessness in McHenry County one person at a time.

Our Mission…
To reconnect homeless men, women, and children with the community by providing emergency, transitional, and preventive services and to raise public understanding regarding homelessness in McHenry County.

David Barber
Executive Director, United Way of McHenry County
For more than the past twelve years United Way of McHenry County has been a partner with McHenry County P.A.D.S. Over this time we have seen a significant impact in the homeless population in our county. With the assistance of the expert staff and the wonderful volunteers, many people who have not had any hope of a better future have found a way to get a new start in life. This opportunity has been enhanced with the building of the new facility in Woodstock where homeless clients can receive unique assistance and access to resources to turn their lives around. I know this partnership between out two organizations has truly made McHenry County a better place to live for all of us.

Bob Blazier
Former Executive Director of Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce
I have lived and worked in McHenry County since 1962. It has been my commitment to work with agencies and organizations that provide support and services for challenged citizens. My three “careers” since 1962, first as a Superintendent of Schools followed by service as Vice President of a hospital and now as President of a major Chamber of Commerce, all brought me in touch with homeless members of the community.

McHenry County PADS has been my major resource since its’ founding, in finding services for those in need. It is a fact that even though McHenry County is quite affluent, there is a need for services for the homeless even though they may be somewhat “invisible” to the general population. I appreciate a resource like PADS.

Susan E. Low
Mayor, City of McHenry
“As Mayor of the City of McHenry, I wholeheartedly support McHenry County PADS and am grateful for the services this organization provides to our community. The city is grateful to PADS and values all its residents.”

Carlos Acosta, MA, LCSW
Executive Director, McHenry County Latino Coalition

PADS has consistently been a strong and active member of the McHenry County Latino Coalition. I believe it has been a beneficial partnership for both organizations. The Coalition has benefited from the experience of the PADS staff and volunteers have provided during our community’s development. Conversely, I have witnessed PADS make earnest attempts to engage the Latino community. As the Latino community in McHenry County continues to grow, more families will need culturally and linguistically competent transitional services to address homelessness. In addition, since Latino families tend to have more young children, they also benefit from the transitional housing program.

Virginia Peschke
Executive Director, Consumer Credit Counseling

As Executive Director of Consumer Credit Counseling Service since 1999 and working as a Certified Consumer Credit Counselor since 1995, I have had the pleasure of observing the wonderful support services provided by McHenry County PADS organization to the homeless of McHenry County.

The addition of the new day center, adjacent to the transitional housing shelter has enabled PADS clients to access a variety of important counseling and education programs designed to empower residents and clients to achieve financial stability and improved employment opportunities.

PADS addresses the problems of homelessness through shelter and hopelessness through a caring, professional staff. Without PADS services, the prospects of homeless families and individuals would be bleak, indeed.
